Vintage Earrings Repurposed for Modern Day Wear

Today I am participating in 2 "Blog Parties":

1. Rhoda, at Southern Hospitality, hosts Today's Thrifty Treasures each Monday. I love seeing what everyone found during their "thrifty shopping" over the weekend. Be sure to visit her blog to read about more treasures!

2. This is my first chance to join the fun over at Between Naps on the Porch. Susan hosts the weekly "Metamorphosis Monday". I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to join the fun. Visit her blog to see other treasure transformations.

I bought several earrings at an estate sale recently. Unfortunately, the lady did not have pierced ears. Some of the earrings have been made into magnets, but I wanted to repurpose these "dangly" ones into something my daughter and I could wear. Here's a pic of the before:

Notice the ones on the earring stand--I love these! I pulled off the clip on the back and just glued on a small post using E6000!

And the rest just got ear wires added:

This last pair was constructed by combining the "green balls" of two of the pairs in the "before picture":

So, if you liked these--keep an eye out for vintage earrings at the next estate sale you attend! I know I will!
Enjoy your day!

HI Suzanne! You hit the jackpot! I love your favorites too - so elegant and you're very smart to make them into pierced earrings! They're all beautiful and I love the green depression glass they're hanging on!
Be a sweetie,

These are beautiful! You did a great job with them. I've passed over many a pairs of pretty earrings just because they were clip on and not pierced. Not any more. . .

Love them!
I always see clip on's and pass right by them
In fact we had them in our shop and I ended up giving them to charity UGGHH

Now I know never to pass them up!
Your transformations are fabulous!

I love it when a plan comes together. This is a great idea even those of us with nickel allergies because we can change the older nickel filled clip ons to hypo allergenic pierced ones.

Things That Inspire said...

Suzanne, I love this post! I am trying to get more into jewelry; I am so unadorned when I go about my day, and whenever I wear even the slightest bit of jewelry I get compliments. These earrings are inspirational!

I would also like to thank you for your sweet comment on my dog, Ben. I was surprised that more people weren't commenting on Ben, as I have never posted a picture of him - so your comment was so gratifying! He does have a beautiful coat. He was groomed to be a showdog, but he had a physical irregularity that would have prevented him from showing and made him sterile. So, the breeder decided to let him go to a family that would love him and take good care of him - ours!

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog today.

Great job! I love vintage earrings and usually use them to decorate my frames...how novel to actually wear them!

Beautiful! I'd never even think to transform them - I'd walk away because they'd hurt my ears. So creative! ;)

Wow, all the earrings look great. I'll never pass over the post earrings at yard sales again, but look for those that can be revamped for pierced ears.
